About Us

My passion and my challenge is to capture the essence of my subject in an artistic manner. Many of my favorite adventures in photography have been off the beaten path where I can capture the unexpected. From the bears of Alaska to the green spiders of Texas, from ammonites to irises, from the castles of Italy to the hermit crabs of Tahiti, there is an infinite number of subjects which capture my interest.

In opening the Mary Karam Gallery, I am grateful for the opportunity to share with others the essence of what I have seen through the lens of a camera. While I transitioned to digital photography for everyday requirement such as recording the progress on the construction of 404, I still use my 35 mm camera when I want to capture the pelicans at the Hagerman Refuge. Pet portraits are done with the 35 mm also.

My photographic journey has led me many places. Opening a gallery with a wonderful variety of artists appears to be another part of that journey. I thoroughly enjoy viewing the work of other artists. I hope we can encourage a creative environment which will inspire other artists and make a positive contribution to the Denison Art community.
